In this video I discuss self harm/injury and my experience with it. There's still a lot of misunderstanding surrounding it. Contrary to common belief it isn't, in most cases, an act to kill yourself. Nor is it necessarily done to garner attention. Many people hide it from those closest to them. What it can be, is an outward manifestion of inner torment and feelings of entrapment with no escape. A physical release of tension or an effect of extreme anxiety. However, while it may ward off thoughts of suicide temporarily, it can leave you with infections in the short term and scarring in the long term. It's not a solution. Please seek help and other coping methods. Visit a health professional. I wanted to start making videos about my own experience with mental health/illness to reach out to others that may be experiencing similar problems. It's easy to become isolated, as I have been.
