Tehran hosts Iran's 1st seafood festival
 | Tehran has organized the first festival on seafood for its taste and quality, which mainly comes from the Persian Gulf in the south and the Caspian Sea in the north of the country. The festival features celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, and local arts and crafts. The Tehran Seafood Festival is a four-day event drawing hundreds of health-conscious food-lovers. Lobster, oyster, different types of fish and shrimps were the main ingredients for the festival cooking competitions. The festival is aimed at promoting seafood in the family food basket. Over 27000 tons of seafood have been exported by Iran to US, Canada, Australia, Italy, Spain, Egypt, Kuwait, UAE, Vietnam, China and South Korea. As a major exporter of caviar in the world Iran has exported roughly 250 kilograms of caviar in the first nine months of the current Iranian year. According to Iran's agriculture Ministry the value of exports in the fishery sector will surpass $350 million in the future.
